The Geodome Experience
Since our vision of Silvana began back in 2016, we have envisaged a place to sleep outside, closer to Nature, its sounds and smells, the starry night skies. A place to feel truly away from the busy life most of us experience.
The meadow, with its swathes of different grasses and wildflowers, was our chosen place. But the sleeping accommodation remained a mystery. We looked at Mongolian Yurts, African Safari Tents, Shepherd huts, caravans, camper vans… even garden sheds!
Then we saw a geodome on a camping website and we were really intrigued. We went to Devon to see the manufacturer, a small company making really good quality tailor-made canvas tents and domes. From the moment we stood inside the frame, we were hooked! We set to work with them on our own design, with windows, a wood burner and an open roof to see the stars.

Creating space
We went home and started to envision how we could create a special place for it in the meadow. We wanted it to be private and comfortable, a feeling of wild camping, far from civilisation, yet close to the pool and with its own bathroom in the house.
We discovered a natural circle under a large pine tree, where we built a small kitchen, a wooden deck, and a circle for the base of the dome.

Worth the wait
Three months later, it arrived and within days the geodome area revealed itself as a place with its own feeling and identity very different from the house or apartment.
The views reminded us of our travels in the African Savannah, sitting on the deck in the evening looking at the mountains was fabulous. The evening sky emerging star by star.
Sleeping in it ourselves for the first time in June fulfilled our hopes that our guests would be able to really immerse themselves into the environment. We realised how disconnected we were and began to wonder much more at the natural world surrounding us.

Can you spot it?
Nature nurture
Seeing an night owl fly across the sky, bats dipping into the pool for a drink, a shooting star, the silhouette of the mountains, the orange moon rising casting its shadow. It was a magical experience.

A rejuvenating experience
Romance
It will be our guests experience which will reveal its purpose. The wooden deck has already been the site of a wedding proposal under the full moon! It is certainly a romantic place, also a place to rekindle the flame of a relationship perhaps.
It is also a place for an individual seeking time alone, permission to follow how they feel, listen to their inner voice and find a renewed sense of direction.
We are excited to see what unfolds…
We hope it will be an adventure for all who stay in it. Watch this space for feedback!
